An engine bay collects oil mist, road dust and heat-baked grime in every crevice, and most of it sits in places a sponge will never reach. Left long enough it hides leaks, makes any mechanical work unpleasant, and turns a tidy car into one that looks neglected the moment the bonnet goes up.

What an engine bay clean covers
The scope depends on how much has built up and how far you want us to go. A bay that has been kept on top of needs less than one that has not been touched in fifteen years. We will tell you which you have before we start.
Masking and preparation
Anything we are not treating gets covered before we start. On an engine bay that means the intake, the alternator and anything else better left alone.
The clean
We work area by area with the applicator. The gas disperses as we go, so there is no run-off pooling in the bay and nothing to mop out afterwards.
What you get back
A bay you can look at without wincing, and one where a leak or a perished hose is actually visible. For anyone about to sell a car or start work on one, that second part matters more than the first.
How we clean an engine bay
We use dry ice. Solid CO₂ pellets are fired at the surface and sublimate on impact, turning straight to gas and carrying the contamination off with them. Nothing wet goes into the bay and nothing abrasive touches the metal.

Why we do not use water in there
Steam cleaning an engine bay is common and plenty of places offer it. Our objection is specific rather than general: steam puts water into a space full of electrical connections, and some of it stays there.
Moisture that works into a connector or along a wiring loom does not announce itself. It sits inside the insulation, and the fault it eventually causes turns up weeks later, by which point nobody connects it to the clean. Control units are the expensive version of the same problem.
Dry ice avoids the question entirely. The pellets become gas on contact, so there is no liquid in the bay at any point and nothing to dry out afterwards. If you have been searching for engine steam cleaning nearby, this is the same job done without the water.
What we will not do
We clean. We do not diagnose, repair or replace anything under the bonnet - if the clean reveals a leak or a failed component, we will show you and you take it to your garage.
Dry ice will not remove rust, and it will not restore corroded or flaking paint on inner wings. It lifts what is sitting on the surface so you can see what is underneath.
We do not come to you. The equipment is at the unit and cars are cleaned here, by appointment.
What it costs
Engine bays are quoted on inspection. How long a bay takes depends on how much is on it and how tight the packaging is - a big bay with room to work is quicker than a small one with everything stacked together.

Is it safe to clean an engine bay?
Yes, with the right method. The risk in engine bay cleaning is water and pressure driven into connectors and control units. We use dry ice, which becomes gas on contact, so no liquid goes into the bay.
Do you steam clean engine bays?
No. We use dry ice instead, for the reason above - steam leaves moisture in places it should not be, and the resulting fault turns up weeks after the clean. The end result is the same clean bay without that risk.
Will it damage sensors, looms or the ECU?
Not when done properly. Nothing wet or abrasive is left behind, and anything better left untouched is masked before we start.
How long does it take?
Most of a day, depending on the bay. Plan to leave the car with us and we will call when it is ready.
